Fix the speedo problem first. They may be related. (with the trans not shifting.)

Governor pressure solenoid/sensor are only a couple more bolts after dropping the trans pan, and filter. If you have done a fluid filter change in a trans, the solenoid and sensor are a piece of cake.

Ive never done the fluid change or filter change for the trans. I was hoping that the wheel speed sensor could be my problem. If it is not i will look into a few other things. I know a few times i have had some problems with the throttle seems to be sticking at WOT. I wasnt sure if maybe the TV cable could be out of adjustment and maybe cause the late shifting also? Im not sure. This is my 3rd ram ive owned and everyone of them seems to have a different problem.

Inspect all the cables/linkages for the throttle. Cables like to fray, and then could possible become sticky.

Ok i will try that. Everything happend at once with this one so im trying to take all problems one at a time. The truck will run up to about 3,800 or 4,000 rpm and then it will shift. It shifts through the rest of the gears like it always has which im hoping means that the trans isnt gone. No CEL either. Just the ABS and brake light.

Just went out and checked some of the cables. I seem to have a good amount of play in my throttle cable. Not sure if this could cause a problem with the TV adjustment or not. Everything seems to move nice and smooth and the cables look to be in good shape. Not sure if all the play in the throttle cable could cause a problem or not with the trans not shifting properly.

Shouldn't matter. The cable you are most concerned with for shifting is the TV cable, (comes in from the back.) There should be NO slop in that one at all.

should that cable be able to get moved just by pushing down on it or is there another way to check it? Sorry for such a dumb question but i like to know as much about everything on this truck to try and learn all of the ways to diagnose a new problem that comes up that i havent had before.

There is a FSM in the DIY section. Go to Transmission, and in the first section is troubleshooting, including how ts check/set/adjust TV cable for trans. Pretty easy.

Ok well i got a few things done. The first picture is of the transfer case all cleaned up and ready to go in. The second one is of the pesky bolt that i had to get out. and the last one is the truck hoping that its the last night in the garage. I also went out and got a new wheel speed sensor to hopefully fix the speedo problem along with the Brake and ABS light.. after all this is done its on to fix the shifting problem. Thanks for all of your advice guys. Hopefully have pics of the truck out of the garage later on.
