Default Cracked Dash

Hey guys, I just wanted to share a bit of useful info with you, although I'm sure someone already has at some point on here. As I'm sure many of you have experienced, the dashboards our trucks - or any dodge around 2000 - are made of what seems to be the cheapest POS plastic known to man. I just replaced mine with the one sold by LMC Truck, and it looks and fits absolutely perfect! No, you will not be able to fasten it to the vents under the dash like it came from the factory unless you take the entire dash apart, but mine feels nice and sturdy just by tightening the screws I could get to. It matches the factory color perfectly, and feels more sturdy than the original. Plus, at 199.95 vs. 400 for a factory one, there is absolutely no beating it! Fair warning, you WILL need to take your old dash out in pieces and do some creative wrenching/breaking to get all of the original screws out of the way, but if your dash looks anything like mine did, you're already 2/3 of the way there!

do you have any pictures of the process and/or results.
any tips or instructions?

gdstock - If it bothers you so much, don't f'ing read it. But it's not like I'm wasting your time by posting this since, clearly, you have time to spare looking up pictures to make your point. I don't know about you, but I log on to this forum, and I look at the recent posts. If it's something that interests me, I click on it. If not, I keep scrolling.

dhvaughan - yes, this is a replacement for the factory dash top - not just a cover. I don't have any pictures yet, but maybe I'll post some soon.

Sorry, gdstock. My rant was actually directed at VW.

You might be able to get a cover for 130, (goes over existing dash pad.) but, the real dash pad is about 200 bucks. Still a really good price for those. Of course, those are for 98 and up.......

For future reference, lets skip the Rants, shall we?

for an extra 90 dollars, you can get one with a lifetime warranty.

BUT THANKS FOR THIS LINK!! I doubt I will own my 2ndgen for the rest of my life! Darn dash cracked last year when I hit a bump while making a sharp turn.

iacordero, please calm down. VW has a very dry sense of humor, and he was actually trying to be helpful.
