I did not forget that his truck is an automatic. Theres a thread floating around here right now about an auto-manual swap. it can easily be done for less then the 1800 he's lookin at for another auto.

Depends on where you are, and parts availability....... when you have to start adding shipping on to parts prices, it gets expensive in a hurry. There isn't a single manual trans dodge in a pick-and-pull within 50 miles of where I live..... Probably have to go to detroit for me. (80 miles or so.....) Real bummer if you have to make the trip more than once...
Im not sure if its like this for the dodge trucks, but on my Jeep with the 5.9 and 46re the fuel line goes overtop of the trans, and there is a bracket up there, the bolt rattled loose and the bracket was rubbing on the floor board and it was making a whining type noise that a shop said was my front pump..
After messing around down there i found the bracket and move it outa the way and noise was gone.
I had a jeep that did the exact same thing, and replaced my front pump befor I found that stinkin bracket. Might save a lot of dough to check that first
Yea it was funny too because on top of the whining noises it was making it was also making like slurping noises that i thought was the pump, but those slurping noises was the fuel in the line reverberating through the bracket lol
