Yep I rented the tool from advance auto. Use an impact to take the nut off. It's keyed so you don't have to worry about putting it back in the wrong spot.

So in the service manual (in the diy section) section 9 page 105 tells you how to remove it. The tool needed looks like the one in the link. Remove the big bolt, install the puller and remove the balancer.

It really shouldn't be that hard to remove..... mine, once it broke loose (quarter turn once pressure was applied..) slid right off.

I left the bolt holding the balancer threaded into the crankshaft so the tool would have something to press on, other than the crank itself. I'd back the crank bolt out about 1/8", use the tool to pull the balancer forward, back off the tool, unscrew the crank bolt another 1/8", then repeat. Once the balancer was most of the way off, I unthreaded the crank bolt all the way and let the tool press against the end of the crank itself. But only after the bulk of the pulling was done.

No not like that^^^. That type of puller will not work on a 2001 360. The pulley is part of the balancer and can not be removed. OP a 3 jaw puller will be needed to grab inside the pulley.
