alright tore it apart for the 3rd time today. took the timing chain off. set the bottom end till it was top dead center )i stuck a screw driver in the cylinder it was right there) got the bottom end all lined up. then i went to the cam gear. i rotated it until the mark for it was dead center facing up. put iit all back together it coughed and lost all compression again. idk wat im doing wrong but its starting to **** me off. ive pulled this damn thing apart 3 times today and everytime i did it i got the same damn result everytime

during your rebuild you left the wires on?

ANyway, you need to make sure that your intake valve is CLOSED when you are at TDC. YOu are at TDC once your intake valve is fully closed o the #1 cylinder. You can judge that by tking the valvecover off.

Then you need to make sure everything is lined up (Crank pulley/harmonic balancer) on the timing cover. Then line up the cam to 12 oclock.

FIRST DO THIS FOR DIAGNOSIS:
Check to make sure that you are at TDC on the timing cover when the #1 intake valve is fully closed (rocker in up position) AND piston is at the top. That will tell you if you are lined up.

everything was lined up... the little dot on the cam was facing up instead of down(i tried it the other way) everything was DEAD ON TDC and the bitch still has absolutly no compression

Are you sure you are on tdc comp stroke? Pull the drivers side valve cover turn the motor over till the intake valve opens then closes, put what ever you are using to feel the top of the piston and bring the piston to the top, check this with the timing marks on the block and the balancer, reset all your timing gear from there.

Theres more than one tdc

Also, check that your rotor is set at #1 on the distributor plate when everything is at TDC.
