1997 dodge ram 1500 4x4 tranny problems!

Fixed it.It had a shorted relay that put the computer in limp mode,And when i was doing the on/off ignition three times it takes the computer out of limp mode and that's why it worked after doing that,Replaced relay,Disconnected battery to reset computer and all is good know,Thanks,Hey You for your help!!!

How come you didn't just do the "key trick" to reset the pcm?

That will just take it out of limp mode,It won't reset the check engine light to go off!

No problem,I learned a lot from this little problem,Learned-don't always listen to a code reader,How to change the solenoid pack,governor sensor,and solenoid,How to tighten bands on tranny,and how to get it out off limp mode,And or what the hell limp mode is!LOL!!! Oh ya if the computer senses a short in the relay's it will lock the computer in limp mode and will make it start off in 3rd gear!

Trans relay I should think, it's in the PDC, right behind the battery, under the hood.
