Highly interested in lifting my 97 dodge 2WD
Hello all,
I have always dreamed of lifting my truck since the moment i got it back in 03, but since it was my dd i didnt want to put it out of commission (because i desire to do most of the work myself). Well now i have finally been able to get my truck as my secondary vehicle and its time to have some fun. Only problem is i have no idea where to start. Here's the deal i want to JACK this thing up pushing the legal limits if i can. The truck has that typical squeaky noise when going over bumps etc but from what i understand is not to uncommon with these trucks, so i am planning on replacing the control arms, ball joints, etc. so the limits are endless from what i read here. Well long story short i want advise on what i should get, I'm talking about a huge lift (body lift and suspension) but i cannot seem to find out what kind of control arms i need to get in order to lift this truck to the max. also should i or should i not add spacers at this time. any feedback is well appreciated. Thanks all and i hope i can eventually reach my dream so i can share this truck with my baby boy some day.
i would like it this high or higher:

That red pickup was originally 2wd, and still is. Just has leaf spring/solid axle modifications. But other than a conversion, your right. 9" is all you can get for an original 2wd.

Is it possible for us to use coils from a 2500 2wd/4wd for front lift, I'm not a big fan of spacers since I heard they can wear through then need to be replaced
My plan is 2.5 up front (hopefully with 2500 coils) 3in body with 285/75/16 Cooper STTs on Crager soft 8's 16x8 with 3.75in of B.S

I thought they were all polyurethane. I just looked up the Rough Country ones, not bad...$80 for 2in from rockymountainsusp.com
I'd still like to know if the 2500 coils would work and the lift you could get out of em', the local graveyard has plenty and Im sure I could walk with a set for 30 bucks
