my dash cap experience
So my experience...
I know a lot swear by lmc. I have had good experience with jcwhitney before, and they were quite a bit cheaper...so I ordered the coverlay brand from there.
I ordered the dark grey. Free shipping..$182 was the total. It came in less than a week including weekend. I called and had excellent customer service. They had 2 dark greys with diff prices. Problem solved.
Prefit, a tiny trim from mold left over. Cleaned surfaces, applied silicone adhesive, and set on. I had removed the instrument bezel, so I just tucked behind airbag. Wedged cardboard between window and dash, and door and dash. Put bezel back on.
It's drying now, ill snap some pics tomorrow. Color is just slightly lighter than perfect. Kinda blueish if on an angle in sun... But it looks good. Fits great. And matches. I think as it gets dirty it'll match perfect...
Definitely better than cracks and the carpet dash mat that just collected dirt. Now my wife won't be scared to toss a book up there or her feet. And I won't be afraid to toss up a pair of binoculars there as I exit after a coyote or something...

Ha ha, yes.. seems pretty strong. Had to bend and twist it in there around the gauge pod. Seems sturdy. I didn't have holes, just cracks. And I put a thin layer of epoxy on them to fill the gaps and make it one piece.
It atleast won't be brittle like the base dash. I think it'll hold up well...

What I'm wondering is people who have cracked/gaping holes in their dash who get a dash cover if say the heater core blows and you have to have it replaced, if you could remove and re-install the dash without it chipping away into nothing.

Funny story... I bought a Coverlay a few years ago from LMC when I had first of them. My heat went out in march this year and i just pulled my dash cap off a couple days ago to see if I was gonna need to replace that with the heater core, and surprisingly enough, it held together perfectly. The only thing I need to do to it is sand the silicone off the bottom.
