Default FI Airgap Intake

Morning All!

Hope your Friday is as good as mine... I took the day off and am now about to spoil myself on my birthday! Gotta love it!

Or rather... spoil my Ram! She has the plenum leak issue. So I thought to myself, "Self... I have too much money in my bank... I should spoil my Ram!" (Naw... not really, but a little bday cash and an understanding GF makes this all work!)

So I did some searching, read a few threads, but a lot of them were more so on the kegger modification and one on the M1 intake. I'm curious, has anyone used this:

http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...=&partid=24773

And just to be 100% certain (I'm about 99.9%), if I purchase that kit, it's pretty much everything I need, correct? No requirement for a plenum since that bolts to the bottom of the original kegger and I'm going to assume that isn't an issue with this kit?

As well, I've read the myriad of threads about the supplimentary projects that go along with this. Double roller timing chains and such... I'll be getting those all in time and installing them too. Just want to buy this today!

Thanks!

Wow... the guys at Hughes Engines are _DAMN_ fast on the replying this morning. They wrote me too. It's everything I need.

One question though... I believe in a thread I had read that people suggest using felpro gaskets for almost everything. Should I be looking to get new gaskets for this kit?

FelPro gaskets are preferred, yep.

Several members have the air gap, all of them like it. Some have reported having a bit of fun with the fuel crossover tube at the rear of the fuel rails. But, aside from that, it's a pretty straightforward install. Solve the plenum problem permanently.

I might be wrong but I believe the main reason ppl bring up felpro when taking about the plenum is because the hughes kit comes with a metal one if im not mistaken and of course felpro is not

Thanks for all the replies, including the link to the search page - I'm aware of what a search is and have used it many times, but don't mind being pointed to it again.

I'll make my purchases today! (And find out what the shipping charges to Canada are! Dun dun Duuuuhhhh)

InfO.

I used a Fel-Pro gasket and it was metal.

Here is a link to Canadain Dealers for that intake. Last time I priced out that intake up here it was over $750 + tax & shipping, to rich for my blood. Was there not something about needing to opening up the injector ports on these intakes?

If you have a 97 like I do, you have to do some modding to the fuel rail bracket because the stock ones don't fit. You'll also have to buy some 3/8's fuel hose and some clamps for that because what they send you doesn't work and is a PITA to install. IMHO, it's not worth $600+ My mileage didn't go up.

I've a 99, so not sure if there are major differences.
