Default A little help please

Just had my 360 rebuilt, installing intermediate drive, then distributor. 1999 360, engine is sitting at TDC. How should I place the the slot on the intermediate shaft and what is the best way to drop the distributor in to align the number #1 in the correct place?

I did scratch a ref line on the back center of the distributor before I yanked it out.

The Haynes service manual does not describe this very well.

I assume, line the drive up according to the distributor - the cap has #1 marked, so I could take the cap off, make sure the rotor is pointing at #1 when it's dropped in?

There should be a mark on the cam sensor also. You'll also need to have the fuel sync reset with a capable scanner.

It may run, but, it may not run as well as it should.

Yes, but you have to be close. Maybe this will help some.

That helped a lot, at least I now understand what a fuel sync, just matching both the cam sensor and crank sensor to optimize fuel delivery and combustion. But if the same cam, cam sensor, crank sensor, distributor and ECM are used, wouldn't that use the same sync as before the engine was torn down?

Not really. New parts and moving the dizzy comes into play. It needs to be right for optimal performance.

If you put things back together EXACTLY as they were before the teardown, yes. Trouble is..... fuel sync only has a tolerance of a few degrees...... Getting it reset really isn't that expensive. .5 to 1 hour labor at whatever shop you find that can do it. Or, see if you can find a scan tool that will tell you what fuel sync is, and set it yourself.

Damn Dodge haha, I will find a shop to get the sync done. I need to have the ECM checked too since I have a bit more compression and a better set of heads.
