Default Gas tank question

If a gas tank holds say 26 gallons, is that the max capacity of the tank or when the fuel needle is at "full"?

That's the same thing. When the gas tank say full, that means it's full. Maybe I'm not understanding your question.

Scarily accurate.......

The gauge will hit full before the gas pump stops dumping it in there. There is prolly a gallon or three that goes in after the gauge thinks the tank is full. (the gauge is not the most accurate in the world) also, on the 26 gallon tanks, the bottom part of the gauge is wildly inaccurate. (dodge did that on purpose) I seem to remember reading, that when the Low Fuel light comes on, there is still six gallons of gas in the tank.....

See I was wondering about that, my tank always looks like its full at 20gallons, but I recently read that my truck has a 26gallon tank and I was going... what?

You must live in the flat lands. Over here in San Francisco, if your gas light is on and your going up hill, your screwed. As you may know, the hills around here are ridiculously steep and that causes the gas to go all the way towards the back.

He lives in NH as do I. There is no such thing as flat lands.
