Default 5.2L Swap

Looking for something to put in my truck I want to get rid of the 5.2 and was wondering what it would take to put a 5.9 i6 cummins in.

The diesel swap has been done, but, it sure isn't cheap...... would actually be less expensive/easier to just find a truck that already has the diesel in it.....

If you do a google search, there are a few conversions of this nature that have been done. I don't think I found any threads here, but, I believe PavementSucks has one or two.....

If you wanted to do the swap, your best bet would be to find a truck close to the same year as yours, that has the diesel, and then just swap the driveline/electronics.

Ive always heard that the 1500 frame would not take the torque of the cummins. I may be wrong, but its just a hear say thing. There is a forum for the 4BT, the 4cylinder cummins that will give alot more torque than the 5.2. The problem is that I think the top speed seems to be limited to around 70 something mph. 4BTswaps.com

I would agree that it would be sooo much easier and cheaper to just buy a 2nd gen with a cummins already in it.

Just put a 360 in it and call it a day.. You can always do more work on that and make it a nice powerhouse.

you want black smoke then just add some motor oil to your gas tank. if you want blue smoke use 2 stroke oil.

there a cummins std cab short bed rolling around and i've seen it at the local diesel shop a few weeks back with the hood up so i took a look at it and talk to the onwer.. .. its twin turbo's and a bunch of other crap on it he said it puts down 790hp and 1800lbs/torque... it not his daily driver... but he said his frame isn't beefed up

cause i heard that too that the 1500 frames were weaker.. but he said his has held up for about 3 years of abuse

but if i was you i'd try and find a wrecked dodge cummins that has a bad body and good frame and swap bodies.. cause you will need 2500-3500 axles and suseption the 1500 won't cut it..
