A month? Seriously? That ain't right....

Staying in second gear is the trans going into 'limp mode'. The PCM is seeing a problem, so, just stays in second gear. Resetting the pcm should clear that, at least, temporarily.

I doubt the PCM is the problem...... that is a rare occurrence indeed. There is something else going on there, and the shop is missing it. They are just throwing parts at it, in hopes of eventually solving the problem.

You can get a used PCM from a junkyard for under a hundred bucks. You can then have it flashed for your VIN. Dealership should be able to do that without any trouble. Selling you a 1300 dollar PCM is just outrageous. (as noted, I still don't think that will actually solve the issue. but, if that is what the dealer insists on doing, run that one up the flagpole with 'em, and see if anyone salutes.)

My exact thoughts HeyYou. I don't think it is the PCM either. Since all of this was started when I got the transmission flush, I think it is plugged lines. And, although they swear that they did not reuse the transmission fluid when they changed all those parts in it, I am having my doubts about that. As I said before, they were willing to pull a part out of the trash can, full of junk and shavings, and put it back in my van. So.......???

That'd be my approach. And I'd do my damnedest to convince the dealership to do just that, explaining that if it works I'll pay for the parts and labor that made it happen, but if it doesn't they should eat that cost and put my old PCM back. "Prove it and I'll pay for it, but don't do OJT on my nickel."

Totally agree with you, Audie, but I brought this up to the service manager and he says 'no way'. Which means, they won't even check that out.

Tried the junk yard route. Part number is 56040389AF . Used ones seem to be selling for not that much cheaper than rebuilt. Waiting for solopcms to contact me.

No, another mechanic did the flush. He doesn't do any engine or trans work, just flushes, oil changes, etc..

One very important item I forgot to mention. The code and problem do not happen until that transmission is very warm. 20+ or more miles on a cool day, less on a very warm day.
