Dealer warranty was only three yr with mileage, not unlimited if I'm remembering correctly. So both are the minimum the others are offering. It's not an option at all.

I'm gonna call this place tomorrow and see what info they can give me.

http://www.hiperformer.com/faq.html#20

Can someone read over the faq and give me comments or advice. They talk about a lot of general stuff. List brands and what exactly they put in. Anything specifically I should ask?

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

I'm not seein' 360's for trucks there..... what am I missing? They do show them for vans..... Long block only though... which I suppose is all you really need..... Would be nice if the timing cover/water pump was also on there, but, can't have everything. Price doesnt look to bad. Might wanna chat with 'em and see what options are available as well.

Yeah I noticed that too. Gonna call and see what they say.

I noticed jasper are up around 3k plus with core and shipping. What is so great about them? Are they actually built better?

I have heard and experienced varying degrees of quality with jasper engines. I have had a couple occasions where a newly installed motor started knocking immediately..... good news was, their warranty was pretty good, and I got paid to replace the motor again, on their dime.

that is one thing about jasper, in 17 years we only had 2 engines with problems, One with a leak, other head gasket. both taken care of no problems, there warranty is excellent, I believe its any where in U S and 3 years 100 thousand miles. Don't quote me but i think that is right

I called and they do have them. 1750 no tax and 150 shipping. They are already built so no modifications. And like most others, no timing cover, valve cover, or oil pan. And of course no intake.

I also called gearhead engines which I've heard of. Same thing basically same price with free roundtrip shipping. Oil pump included. I asked about other companies and they said they compare to jasper and said jasper has great products but I'll pay a lot more. Looked it up and over thousand more. They only had three yr warranty but its for the entire period. The seven yr warranties are only full coverage for two yrs and then the remaining five yrs you pay half the engine value if needing replaced.

Looks like I'll have to take a chance with someone. Seems like ppl only put negative reviews. With all the ppl ordering motors, and only two or three bad reviews, seems like the satisfied ppl have nothing to bitch about and don't bother posting, which is common with the internet.

Warranty is a big thing though since I'm dropping a good chunk of change. I don't drive far, everything in town is within ten miles.

Contacted a couple local places before ordering something. Unfortunately, most places are closed until Tuesday.

Enjoy your holidays everyone!!

And most places do simulated testing. Gearhead is mechanical. They actually pump oil through and test everything. There's a video demonstrating on their website.

I plan on ordering new water pump, any suggestions? And I have my Hughes plenum kit here still that can be put on easily before installing intake stuff. While it was open I was gonna put 1.7s in and when asked gearhead said you can modify anything you want and still be covered as long as its not the cause of something internally failing down the line. If so its not covered. I figured it would be impossible to prove that any mod didn't ruin something inside so was debating doing any mods on warrantied motor.

Anything else I should look into replacing? I planned on whoever does it to inspect everything prior to installing. Like distributor and stuff.

I wouldn't modify anything one engine but would do the kegger mod. What type timing chain do they provide? Morse or roller? Roller is better.
