Oil in the intake...still
Okay, so I did the Hughes plenum fix about 7 months ago and at the same time replaced ALL seals and gaskets from the heads up. But it still smoked so about two months ago I replaced the valve seals. That seems to have solved the smoking.
My questions are below:
1. If I had bad valve seals would that cause oil to be inside the intake?
2. I have oil inside the kegger but it was after the Hughes fix so it has to be the valve seals, correct?
3. Do I NEED to clean up the oil or can I leave it since it doesn't smoke anymore?

I'm pretty set on doing the CTD conversion so I don't know if I feel like pulling the intake off again to check. It's not smoking anymore so I wonder if I should just say "screw it" and leave it be.
HeyYou,
I really haven't driven it that much due to being out of town and having the oil consumption. I just changed it after I reassembled it after the valve seals. It was previously using two quarts for about 400-500 miles. Maybe even more.
Zman,
I think I may just pull the throttle body and check it. Then if it's leaking, I suppose I can take a few hours and a 12 pack and pull everything off again. If it's leaking then it is likely operator error rather than poor design by Hughes.

Have you done a leak down test or a comp test to see what shape the motor is in? It might not be the gasket it could be blow-by past the rings etc. Best is to see were the motor stands before tearing it apart.
Merc,
I have not done those tests, however, it no longer smokes after fixing the valve seals. Would those tests be relevant to why there's still oil in the kegger? I haven't performed those before, that's why I ask.
