Default Cheap/Easy tuneups for 97 Ram

What are some easy and cheap tuneups for a 97 dodge ram 1500. I have noticed a little lack in power lately and was wondering what I could do to maybe get a little back into it.

You want a tune-up or do you want a power adder?

How many miles are on your truck?

Cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and possibly 02 sensors if you have allot of miles on your truck.

If it has high miles, check the compression or do a leak down test first before you start sinking money into it. Then you can do stage 1 with plugs wires oil change stuff, stage 2 by increasing the in & out air flow & even do some power adders, but make sure it is worth it first.

Still a good idea to check compression or else expensive stuff will fail & you will throw money away. If have lots of $$$$, then it is not an issue.

Yeah, I second (third? fourth?) the compression test. If that comes out ok, need to do the basics first, including the plenum. While you are in that deep, timing chain and gears would most certainly help you out in the power department as well.

Given the mileage on the motor though..... it may not be a bad plan to just yank it, and either freshen it up, or replace it....

Would it be smart to bore out my engine, Idk much about that at all and what effects could that have, I have heard that increases power. Also how much money are we talking when this is done?
