so when you try to put into neutral or 4L, the shift lever hits the floor preventing it from moving further back? or does it just not go into those gears?

the only thing i can say is to keep trying to adjust it until you work out what ever is stopping it from moving. maybe someone else who knows a little more about the t-case will chime in.

ADJUSTMENT - SHIFT LEVER
(1) Move shift lever into 2H position.
(2) Raise vehicle.
(3) Loosen shift rod lock bolt at trunnion
(4) Check shift rod fit in trunnion. Be sure rod
does not bind in trunnion. Lubricate the shift rod
and trunnion if necessary.
(5) Verify that transfer case shift lever is in 2H
detent position. The 2H detent position on the transfer
case shift arm is the second position from full forward.
(6) Align the adjustment locating hole on the lower
shifter lever with the adjustment channel on the
shifter bracket assembly
(7) Insert an appropriately sized pin through into
the adjustment channel and through the locating
hole to hold the shifter in the correct position.
(8) Tighten shift rod lock bolt to 10 N·m (90 in.
lbs.) torque.
(9) Remove the locating pin from the adjustment
channel and locating hole.
(10) Check shift linkage operation. Be sure transfer
case shifts into and operates properly in all
ranges.

So what does that shift pattern look like? I have a '94 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 5.9 Cummins Diesel. Is the shift pattern upper left 4H, middle left 2H, middle right N, and lower right 4L? My transfer case shifter does not have the button in the center of the shifter **** with the pattern on it. Thank you! -Bob

From front to back: 2H, 4H, N, 4L. They changed it in '98 IIRC, but can't remember that pattern.

4L N 2H 4H also in 98 it went in a straight line. Unlike in the older years when you had to go to the right.
