Zman, what do you think about that metal piece that requires NO cutting?

It says it only reads 5* cooler at 200*. I know people will say, "But the air temp will foul the reading." But air flows over the cooling line as well.
With zero cutting, I would get that gadget. Mainly because I would mess something up and my truck is still under warranty. But I have mine in the pan. I might get a second tranny gauge for inline.

I would think that one could wrap it with something to insulate the unit and even reudce the 5 degree loss. It would then only be a function of a snug fit to the transmission line.
