Stripped Oil Filter Adaptor - My Ram is down
Big storm coming in, decided to change the oil and filter because my 01 Ram is going to get a workout hauling me up to the mountains. I've used Napa Gold oil filters and have to get them really tight or they leak. Today putting the new filter on it felt funny. Pulled it off and the threads were messed up. Went and bought a Bosch filter so I didn't have to tighten it so tight, felt OK. Started the truck, zero oil pressure. Shut it off and my drain bucket was full. So I'm pretty sure I stripped the oil filter adaptor...the tube the oil filter screws on to. How in the world do you remove that? What's the official name for that part...I asked the rocket scientists at Autozone and they only could find oil filters.

Go to the FAQ/DIY section and download the factory service manual. I have not looked on a Ram, but I have never seen a filter adapter that would not unbolt and take out.
There is a parts manual ther also. You can look at parts list and give AZ a Dodge part number to cross referenece. AZ ,most likely willn ot have in stock, but neither will anyone else.
This is from parts manual. Oil filter plate is #53021053 but is on nest page.
