I think the OP is asking if he can put a 727 from a 440 behind a mag360.
No, you cannot cross over from Big Block to Small Block. And you would lose overdrive. You would be better off putting the money it would cost to adapt a small block 727 into making your modern trans better. If the 46re is an updated version of the 727, then it should share a lot of parts and should only need a few things to make it as bullet proof. If everything I've read and heard from trans shops is true, it is a flow issue with the oil, fix that.
