hey this is just a ****s and giggles question but since the 46re is base off of a 727 trans, would say a 440 bolt to it in place of a magnum360?

If it did I wouldn't trust the 46re behind a 440, heck they don't hold up behind a 318

I think the OP is asking if he can put a 727 from a 440 behind a mag360.

No, you cannot cross over from Big Block to Small Block. And you would lose overdrive. You would be better off putting the money it would cost to adapt a small block 727 into making your modern trans better. If the 46re is an updated version of the 727, then it should share a lot of parts and should only need a few things to make it as bullet proof. If everything I've read and heard from trans shops is true, it is a flow issue with the oil, fix that.

**2 got me while I was doing a long winded answer.

Might wanna check and see if maybe the newer trans have a compatible bolt pattern.... V-10? Hemi?

Or, you could always swap it to a manual trans.... that shouldn't be too difficult.

you might not have to modify your dash to use analog gauges. the stock ones might be able to work with the stock sensors.
