I went to http://www.checkyournumber.org/ and for 2001, Dodge isn't even listed in the drop down menu. WTF?

I change my conventional oil every 3000 and synthetic every 5000. It's not going to hurt anything to do it more often. Cheap insurance IMO.

I agree. They claim the newer engines can go longer in between oil changes but our motor's aren't exactly new... But they can probably run longer then 3k with a quality filter.

as long as you got a slow leak you never have to change your oil, or at least that is the way my dad use to treat his dodge trucks.

Nope, no leaks and no more blown plenum/bad pcv valve to suck all the oil either. I'll just stick to changing my oil every so often.

I don't think that holds water, (so to speak) That recommendation can go back a few more years before 2002 though. (like 15 or 20 maybe) LOL Even Dyno oil is not what it used to be back then, never mind the better quality filters (if you use one).

I've actually read articles that state that they noticed most of the wear occurring the first 3000 miles after an oil change.

Changing your air filter more often also isn't better for your motor, despite popular belief.

Without oil samples you're really shooting in the dark and the conventional wisdom ain't worth jack.
