would no codes being thrown still possibly point to that?

It may or may not throw a code..... If the ABS lite is on, it probably IS throwing a code, just the average parts store can't/won't read 'em. (liability? lazy? code readers won't talk to abs? who knows.) On your truck, speedo gets it's signal from the rear wheel speed sensor, so, if the trans sensor fails completely, you get the lights, no CEL..... and the speedo still works just fine.

If you have 4wal, there is a HOST of other things that can turn on the lights as well, and for that system, you MUST read codes to figger out what it is whining about...... otherwise, you could throw parts at it till the cows come home, and still not fix it.

well thats the thing. the 1 out of 20 times the lights are on, i go grab a code reader and come back and start it up and they don't come on.

and i have just rear wheel abs if that helps.

also my speedo doesn't seem to be fukked up and nothing seems wrong with the tranny since i replaced the solenoid/sensor. just a random abs/brake light that comes and goes

May have to take it to a shop that can read the ABS codes. Should be something stored in history. Even disconnecting the battery doesn't make those go away......

So either the rear sensor is bad, or you have a bad connection. Have a look, and see what you find. Odd though, that your speedo is working fine......

unless i got a bad sensor out of the box, i wouldn't think its the sensor since it was doing it with the old and new....which leads me to think connection. but i tightened that son beach down tight. could there be something up with the wire that leads to the (insert where ever that line goes here)?

and like i said, as far as the speedo it works, but i have never tested it to see if its on par (i rarely get to go fast enough on the 6 minute drive to work).
