Default can computors interchange

I have a 95 ram 1500 5.9 and i believe the computor is bad, im in the process of figuring out because the gel like stuff on the inside is cracked. i was wondering if i pulled a computor off of a 94 dodge ram 2500 5.9 and the numbers didnt match on the computors would it work?

So long as the computer is the same "tech level".... (OBDI) and for the same size engine, and same type of trans, (manual, or auto) it should at least run the engine and trans. Might get an ABS light.......

I would check all the connections/grounds for the PCM, and see if that didn't straighten it out. If not, swapping it out as a test wouldn't be bad.

The battery IS fully charged, right?
