Default Installed a tranny temp gauge

Yup here she is ! Drove around all day and avg was around 140-160 city/hwy. I decided to also do a test and hook my 4500lb boat up and back up my 1/2mile long STEEP driveway. Was fairly muddy and was slipping in 4wd(even with the spool lol).. stopped at 223*F and let it idle in N so i didnt burn it up. WAY glad i got the gauge... Hit 170 a few times idling around parking lots and stuff as well(empty).

That's why a temp gauge is so important. You stopped at let it cool, as I do when plowing. Without it, the tranny is getting badly abused if it's allowed to be at high temps for long periods of time. I'm putting a B&M cooler on it sometime this summer before plow season. Maybe sooner, as I have to tow a Bobcat around a few times this summer. That's if I can ever get the rusted in solid hitch out that's in it now.

Drove it hard a few times running code 3 to a few calls... Hit around 185* at its peak but cooled to 175-180ish. Driving around i see 130-150*. Have it in test port 4 on the gov sensor.

i have the derale cooling pan with the temp sensor in the pan bung...I see 97-100 on the highway. But once I get the truck off the highway (after 1 hour) and into stop and go city driving, the temp goes to 140.

160 was the highest I have seen in my truck since the temp gauge install. I am also running full synthetic (valvoline) ATF.

Is that test port the one on the passenger side front most port? That's where mine is.

I have been thinking about this myself. I tow 2-4k lbs on a daily basis. I want to upgrade my trans cooler at the same time.

The test port is not the best location. Should be in the cooling line coming out of the tranny. Then again, I think I've told you that. And to get one of these. At least your getting a temp reading though I suppose. As most don't have a gauge at all.
