Pretty sure it was all 2nd gen rams that had cracking dash issues, just some area's are less prone due to less sunlight. Example: My '95

On the other hand, I lived my entire life never seeing one cracked dodge dash until I moved from WA down to the armpit of America.
^^ Texas isn't as bad as this place, no offense to you gdstock haha. I went through basic and tech school in texas, but this swampland is really a terrible place to be haha. I was actually just in dallas on thursday, dropping someone off at the airport. Its not such a bad town Friggin huge though....
When I was in Texas, way back when, (also for basic, and tech school....) It was ten below in the morning when I got up, and 110 in the shade by 1:00 in the afternoon..... Then... I moved to Marquette..... talk about a climate shift..... I always hated the weatherman in winter..... "The high today will be minus twelve......" Ugh.

Yea that split from morning to afternoon really was wierd. And the freakin' wind never goes away.

I don't know if it's necessarily the temperature that makes the difference, I would think it's more the sun exposure (I know they can go hand in hand). In western Washington, we can go for weeks without seeing it once, so interiors in general are usually not in bad shape (from the sun at least).
Also, it's not real uncommon for 30 year old vehicles to look good wearing their original paint. My '72 has the original paint on all body panels except the tailgate, and while it doesn't look new, it's a 40 year old paint job and it looks decent.
