Starting issue- hopefully can be solved

Finally got the computer to flash a code at me and I might have a lead! It flashed 54, which the manual says is a camshaft position sensor. I know that's supposed to be under the distributor cap, but when I called the auto parts store, they told me that they don't sell them for my truck (1995). Is it part of the distributor and cannot be purchased separately or a dealer part? Or does it exist at all? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I know I'm talking apples-oranges here, but I have a 2.9L Ford that had exactly the same symptoms. Would start right up when cold or when I let it sit for a while. Would crank over great but wouldn't start after being driven until I let it sit a while.
To make a long story short, the problem was resolved by changing out the el-cheapo Wal-Mart battery cables with some decent ones with the molded ends. This was about 3 years ago, and haven't had the problem since.
Just another thought.

Update
So I changed out the pickup coil and that worked, but . . . I have a new problem now. I drove it home from work today and it just cut off in the parking lot. Checked fuel pressure, and it's fine. The truck will turn right back off after it cuts off, and run for a few seconds, then die again. It doesn't shake or sputter. Just turns off. No code either, though it may not have been driven long enough. I checked the IAC and it was pretty bad, so I replaced it. It seems to cut off when it idles down to its typical idle speed, about 700 RPM. I was told to try and take the MAP off and see if it will run in a closed loop. Any thoughts????????
