I'm not. Just once I would like to read a thread where something failed on someone's vehicle in freeway traffic, causing carnage on the scale of an episode of CHiPs.

For removing the yoke you can just remove the pinion nut, you don't have to crack open the back side of the differential. Go ahead and replace the pinion seal while you're at it

I lost my front driveshaft, and my truck used it as a pogo stick, flipped it over, and killed me, my wife, and kids.......

I was wondering if I was going to get to the bottom of this thread without anyone answering this question

When I replaced the pinion seal in my '72, It was all very easy, except for the pinion yoke being very difficult to remove from the splines. You might have to beat on it with heavy objects to force cooperation. And yea, replace the seal.

Given the severity of the leak he has, I would suspect there is a reason the pinion seal went...... might wanna drop the drive shaft, and give the yoke a shake, and see how much it moves.

THANK YOU! I got the yoke off this evening. Now when I go about putting the new one in, is there a torque spec to tighten it back down to? Or how does one go about that?

I've been getting up at 3am then having to drive 1hr and 30min each way for work.... I'm finding out that at 25 I'm not as young as I was once and about 30-40minutes into the trip I'm ready for a nap but, I get it honestly, from my grandfather.....
