Speedometer doesn't work, and no O/D
The computer should set a code if it commands TCC or O/D, and doesn't see an RPM drop. Not sure if trans codes turn on the CEL or not.... might wanna have your codes read, see if there is anything interesting there..... also, if you can use the scanner to monitor trans temp, and see what IT thinks as well. If the sensor has failed, real possibility it won't command O/D because it thinks the trans is too cold..... maybe...
Yeah I don't know for sure if it would show a CEL or not. My truck isn't obdII so where can I find a good code reader for it? I've checked codes with the on,off,on,off,on trick and the only code i've gotten since fixing the speedo is for the battery being disconnected in the last so many start cycles.
Does the tps have a role in overdrive? The weird thing is that the converter locks up in third but I get no overdrive, and if I push the overdrive off button on the dash it unlocks the torque converter clutch as well. Which from what i've read is total backwards. what i've read online it shouldn't lock up in third unless the overdrive off button is pressed. Is that correct? Or is my truck doing it right?
Is there a way to like wire in a switch to turn overdrive on manually when i'm on the highway to verify that the transmission itself is functioning alright?

Well I ran a ground on a switch to the brown wire. And it's a no go. Made no change at all. So I guess that means it must be something inside the trans? Whats strange is everytime that it has actually worked, it worked perfectly. No slipping when in overdrive, no funny noises, or shudders. Nothin. Is there something electrical thats common to go back for O/D or does it pretty much mean I'm screwed to get a rebuild?
O/D solenoid. It may have decided it didn't wanna work any more. Try replacing the O/D+TCC solenoid set...... it's worth a shot. And if you have to rebuild it, you want to replace them any way.
know of any place I can find those? And is that something easy for a person not familiar with automatics to install or am I far better off to take it in?
I've got to drop the pan anyways to replace the leaking pan gasket, and change the filter since I'm in there already. So I'd suppose it would be a good time to replace those as well if it's fairly simple.

Okay well I've found some at napa, and I'd prefer to buy from there(I have an account) if i can for sure find which one is the right one. Some are 2 wire which I know is wrong.
They do have a few at various different prices that are the same 3 wire plug mine has. But one of them says it's for a 4x2, is there any difference? And others list off quite a few trannies they are good in but don't none mention the 47RH the closest I've gotten is the 46RH are they the same?

Well just got the solenoid replaced, and still seems to be no change at all. At first the o/d off button didn't turn off and on, but after shutting it off and going to drive it again after a nice relaxing cruise on the bike the o/d off switch is now working again but still no overdrive.
Any thoughts? The tranny shop said there weren't really any shaving in the pan. I do appear to have a fluid leak from around what I believe is where the overdrive unit bolts onto the back of the transmission. I'm not 100% that its where its coming from but its gotta be somewhere in that area since it now has a new pan gasket and still has a leak and only the back of the pan and everything behind it are wet.

Hhhmmmm...... couple possibilities here....
There are two wires that might control the solenoid. Kinda hard to tell which one actually energizes the solenoid.... PCM controls the ground, might be a brown wire, at pin 54 on the PDC, or, it might be the Orange/black wire to pin 55.
At this point, I think putting a scanner on it to see if the PCM is actually commanding O/D is going to be necessary...... I would think though, that if it did, and didn't see the corresponding RPM drop it expects, it would set a code......
