In most states, it is illegal to have a police scanner in your vehicle....... unless of course, you are a cop....

The coolest thing that i like is that it is setup to be wireless mic compatible. that's pretty cool that there is one less wire to worry about, then again half the fun of CBing is trying to catch the mic going down there highway at 70 MPH... HAHA

One thing that is true with the CB hobby to remember is that you get what you pay for. This is the most important in the antenna area... i have seen $30 dollar radios smoke $200 radios all because one had a better antenna!
Yeah, i want to get one of those midland or cobra ones off ebay for only around 35-40 shipped but i would have to get an antenna. Would they be any good? I would post links to them all but ebay is blocked at school..

Yeah, it's illegal here but they normally don't see it when you just drive by.

I think i'm going to either get the cobra or midland cb off ebay for around 40 shipped. I heard good of both the brand names but have you guys had any experience with them?

And would a 4 or 5 foot firestik antenna be better? It's only a few dollar difference but i don't want to be hitten it off stuff when i go under it. Also, could you get these firestik antennas at walmart or would i have to order them?

Or should i go with this magnet antenna from walmart? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Cobra-36-3...ndingMethod=rr

I got a cobra 29 LTD classic. got the dodge fender mount, and a big firestix antenna on it. also had a CB shop turn the radio up to 23w of power instead of stock 4w. it gets out there a ways...

here's my mounting location:

not saying you gotta get it from there, but that's the mount you want for the antenna. and I would go with the firestix 4' or 5'

it sticks out under the hood on the drivers side above the fender. no need to drill holes, just pull the big bolt under the hood on the fender, put the mount in place, and put the bolt back in. the mount is shaped to fit between the fender and hood without touching the hood so it doesn't rub off the paint or anything. very solid mount and has survived a few parking garages where the antenna was hitting everything and bowing over lol.

for the radio I would go for the one with the most noise filters and most adjustable.

The 880 is designed to be a 6-pin radio (for the wireless mic) but, Uniden includes a 6-pin to 4-pin adapter with it so you can use any 4 pin mic with it.

What all should I look for when buying a cb? There's some cheap ones on eBay, but i want good quality and is pa compatible. Also, could i use one of those magnetic antennas from walmart or should i get a firestix II and what length? Any help?

Here's the choices:

(Where could i get the mounts separate for the firestiks?)

For the radio, i would go with you last choice.. it's setup like the old school big radios and is gonna be your most mod friendly of the group..

As for your antenna you wanna stay away from anything shorter than 4ft.. there are some good mag mounts out there but, if you go that route the best place would be on the cab and personally i would not like it there because the first tree you snag it antenna may slap right off..

I would go with the dodge fender mount listed above. shop around because i have seen the places for as low as 20 bucks... i would also use the 5ft firestick make sure you get a good tune on the antenna. with that you will need to either have a CB shop do it or get yourself a SWR meter and do it yourself. Under 3 is ok, under 2 is better, not moving at all is perfection. Just remember the antenna makes or breaks the radio so, this is an area where you don't wanna cheap out on.
