Uniden has said that they have a wireless mic for the BC880 and BC980 radios but are only saying that it will be here in 2012. Some of the "insiders" with uniden on the CB forums are saying there is rumor there shooting for a late summer/early fall release. Makes sense because they have not had the official release of the BC980 yet. Guess its a good idea to release a product before you release a wireless mic for it huh?

I'll keep everyone posted as i find info as i for one will be pre-ordering as soon as there taking orders

not saying you gotta get it from there, but that's the mount you want for the antenna. and I would go with the firestix 4' or 5'

it sticks out under the hood on the drivers side above the fender. no need to drill holes, just pull the big bolt under the hood on the fender, put the mount in place, and put the bolt back in. the mount is shaped to fit between the fender and hood without touching the hood so it doesn't rub off the paint or anything. very solid mount and has survived a few parking garages where the antenna was hitting everything and bowing over lol.

for the radio I would go for the one with the most noise filters and most adjustable.
Thanks alot for all the info. I'll probably get that mount ordered here, but i'll look around to see if i find them any cheaper. This might be a dumb question, but when i mount the firestik II, would i have to remove my original antenna? I'm pretty sure you do but i'm not 100% sure.

As for your antenna you wanna stay away from anything shorter than 4ft.. there are some good mag mounts out there but, if you go that route the best place would be on the cab and personally i would not like it there because the first tree you snag it antenna may slap right off..

I would go with the dodge fender mount listed above. shop around because i have seen the places for as low as 20 bucks... i would also use the 5ft firestick make sure you get a good tune on the antenna. with that you will need to either have a CB shop do it or get yourself a SWR meter and do it yourself. Under 3 is ok, under 2 is better, not moving at all is perfection. Just remember the antenna makes or breaks the radio so, this is an area where you don't wanna cheap out on.
Yeah, that's what i was thinking because it had the most adjustments compared to the ebay ones. But just curious, which one of those ebay ones would be a better choice? And yeah, i don't like the look of antennas on the cab and plus i would probably hit everything i go under like you said. And i'll probably get the 5 foot firestik II off ebay then. I'll have to look around for a cb shop though because i haven't heard of any being close. If i have to, i'll try to tune it myself with one of those meters.

CB antenna, or am/fm radio antenna?

You don't need to remove your radio antenna. just mount the cb antenna on the drivers side of your truck since the radio antenna is on the passenger side.

I was talking about the regular radio one but yeah that's what i thought. Well, i'll order a cb, 5 foot firestik II, the mount, and look for a cb place around here to tune it for me.

this is mine. antenna is a 2 foot firestick with a 3 inch spring. its mounted on a plate to clear the toolbox and to allow the toolbox to go in/out w/o disturbing the cb. with this antenna and mount i can drive in/out of the garage and not hit anything. reception is ok. a longer antenna or better position would work better, but all things considered this setup works best for me. i seldom need to talk to anyone farther away than line of sight.

I like how that looks but that looks longer than 2 feet to me haha. If that's a 2 foot one, i might just get a 4 foot firestik II because i don't wanna hit alot of stuff. But where did you get the mount to be able to mount it in the spot you did?

2 feet. plus a 3 inch spring a a 1 inch mount.
i got it somewhere on the internet where ever it was cheapest, maybe here.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Firestik-II-...item2a0fe48019

i made a cardboard template, then cut it out of a piece of flat steel about 1/8 inch thick. i used a bandsaw, but a jigsaw would have worked too.
