If it's the cam sensor, then remove it from the distributor and physically inspect it for any cracks or other damage. It's a good idea to clean the contacts of the pigtail and coat them with di-electric grease.

Tell them you want a pickup coil... It's just listed under that name at the parts stores. It's easy to replace- just take your time and don't pull the wires apart... Make sure you put it back with the correct side facing up.
I will tell you, if you replace the crank and cam sensors and can't at least fire it with starting fluid sprayed into an open throttle body... I would be computer.

My backfire was cured by replacing the crank sensor. I got the injectors to fire when I replaced the cam sensor (pickup coil) and I got the truck to start when I took e water out of the gas!
