Look for signs of a leak on the trans... fresh fluid anywhere might be an indication.

Yep. In park, these transmission are not circulating fluid throughout the system, making it appear to be full as all of the fluid is sitting in the pan. Ignore park.....check in neutral. I now....defies any previous knowledge and experience with checking fluid in an auto tranny....but this is Dodge!

Sling Mud: Perhaps this will answer your fluid level question. Check this site, http://my.att.net/p/s/community.dll?...pid=404015&ck= ,then go Dod Ram Info, next 46re trans rebuild, next 46 re manual, next Page 70. Chart shows fluid level vs temp. Quite a differance.

Did you find a torque value for the filter bolts???

Thanks

The stick on these things is a PITA to read. Check it again in a couple days, if it's ok, your good to go. If it's low again, check the transfer case fluid level.
