The tab is just for alignment. Looks like your going to need heat, a lot. If at all possible, right where the pipes are creased from the clamp, heat it the whole way around until its glowing red. Then grab the pipe with vise gripes on the end and start smacking it with a hammer to work it out. All while reheating if needed.

It'll be a PITA, guaranteed.

still no luck, am i able to cut it at the crease? Say the flange is 6 inches, if i cut it at the crease there would be about 3 or so inches left for me to slip in the new cat and clamp it down. Would that be enough for the cat to slip in and clamp down?

Yep. Or, just cut off the pipes where they overlap, and get a short section of the right size, and splice it in.

Welding is better, but clamping can work. A muffler shop may weld it in for a little bit. I had a 3" end piece with one bend about 24" long welded in and cost about $35.

I dont have any shops close by and dont know if i could get it there anyway. This thing is probably the most difficult thing ive done to this truck yet..plenum,timing chain, rear main seal..nothing as frustrating as this..haha

Probably. Have a look..... the torch will certainly make your life easier. Don't burn any holes thru it though.

ok i didnt know if running it with just the cat would hurt anything or not. right now im using just a hand plumbers torch but thats not really cuttin it. i found theres a exhaust hanger at the end of the cat so that should hold it up as long as it wont hurt anything thats what ill do.
