5.9 Rebuild on the cheap: Now Just Empty Every Pocket build.
Well there isn't anything else there than what comes with any set of rings and there isn't anything else on the pistons. I think the flash from the camera just made that part look red. I just want to make sure when it is finally time to put everything back together that I do it correctly. And ClubCab was saying something wasn't put together right. But if I can't figure out what he is talking about I guess I'll just put it together like I would any engine.
Duh,
I guess it helps to go and read and reread the install instructions for the KB pistons.

What I'm not sure about is where do I get this spacer ring from? And does it go in the oil ring groove along with the spacer and two oil rings?
I'm going to do a search to see if I can find out anymore info about that spacer ring.
Edit:
I found this on another forum and I think it explains how things are suppose to be installed.
Also what their saying is that I have to contact KB for the spacer ring since they were suppose to come with the pistons. So I am going to go back out to the garage and look at everything I took off that one broken piston.

Why? If I had bought the pistons and if they needed the oil spacer rings I'm sure they would have come with them.
I've got some thoughts on this after looking at my pistons compared to other pistons made by KB.

This piston needs the oil spacer ring. But if you look at my pistons they are not cut as far so there is a small amount of metal above the wrist pin. So I don't think my pistons require the oil spacer ring.

When I went to the machine shop with this motor, they gave me 2 options for a 408 stroker. KB or diamond. Us poor guys can't afford diamond pistons so I only had 1 option.
I would have prefered speed pro pistons.
I would have prefered speed pro pistons.
LOL, you should have bought your own Speed Pro pistons and dropped them off with the block.
I'm with you, I love Speed Pro.
Could've got shorter rods and used whatever pistons you wanted. Most magnum stroker kits just use a higher wrist pin and the same length rods.
Or at least that's what it seemed like to me, Idk haven't built one....... Yet
