THANK YOU!!! Now i dont have to take it some random place thats probably going to quote me a couple hundred bucks for filling in the cracks or worse end up paying up 300+ for one at the dealer.
no prob. found out about that link over at cumminsforum. we may all have diesels over there, so we've never heard of this plenum crap, but we still have the same steering, transmission, and interior/body probs as the gassers lol...
someone had posted that LMCtruck sells replacement dashes on the cheap a while back, so I thought I would pass it along. I don't live in an area where dash cracking is a problem so mine has never cracked, but I came across that thread one day and thought info might be useful in case my dash ever does crack in the future.

Yes. The 2nd Gen's are nice looking trucks, inside and out. But a dashboard that squeaks and is full of holes is ugly and embarrassing.
Whoa didn't mean to strike a nerve. Granted some look ugly but buy a decent one an they don't (look a hell of a lot better then a swiss cheese dash) . An if u put a mat soon enough then it will prevent from crumbling.
But replaceing the dash with LMC (and ther is ONE other that I know of but cost is higher than LMC) will solve the problem Plastic composition is differnet and gaurateed NOT to crack like OEM dash.
So it comes down - does a good gearhead want to fix the problem - -OR - - just cover it up! Condsidering that it appears that most, if not all of us, take pride in a job done well and done right.....it is pretty easy.
(When I got my Ram it had a beige bathtowel laying across the dash.)

When it comes to something as insignificant as a cracked dash I would rather spend my money on another item, if that makes me a bad gear head, then so be it.
And u can't compare a beige bath towel to a fitted piece of black carpet with hemmed edges.

and I personally think dash mats look ugly/tacky, just like I think seat covers look ugly/tacky.
