if your intend to go through deep water, use a damn boat, not the truck.
my 01 short cab 1500 4wd weighs about 5500 empty at the dump, with tool box, and stuff, and me in it.

i agree with HeyYou. i think the distributor is in a great spot. just all the newer trucks were designed with not enough space under the hood. i got lots of space under the hood of my trucks and have no problem getting at the distributor.

I dont think the distributor is in a terrible spot, for the year of these trucks, i think they are pretty easy to work on, for me i prefer workin on my 99 than my 89, but thats just me

+1 on that.

And I really don't get all the whining that goes on about the distrubutor location. It's not as convenient as the front, but I changed the cap and rotor in about 8 minutes. You'd spend twice that removing plastic from anything newer...

I think the driver's seat belongs on the list. The outer edge should have had stiffer foam and a sturdier fabric.

The only real problem with disty at the back is the lack of room between engine and firewall. This also noticed when checking/changing crank sensor! I mean it's not like they could not have shortend the fan shroud an inch or two and moved ecerything forwad slightly!

I have to agree with you on the driver seat. There was a small tear on the edge of the seat when I bought the truck, and of course the year and change of use has made it worse...

I am currently looking for the tan fabric to have mine rebuilt - completed with firmer foam. But all I cna find in JY is the grey fabric! I must have the only tan one around!
