Thanks for the advice Patt. PB Blaster is good stuff. I also found something called sl100 SoyLube. It is a great penetrating oil and rust inhibitor, kind of like WD-40.

If you want a cat, look on Amazon. There are several Magnaflows on there for $100-$150. Mine just got gutted. Too early to tell about the CEL. It will probably get a cat put on it if it turns the light on.

That's probably for a 'universal' right? Beause depending on the yr/eng such as mine it sometimes requires an 'ultra direct fit' (cost me $350 @ advanced auto pts ) probably costs less at rock auto, usually is! Check out this link, if you haven't already...

I haven't taken exact measurements off of anything yet, but that's what mine looks like and sounds like what you described. Didn't you describe yours?.... Maybe someone else.....

Everywhere I called and checked wanted at least $400 for a new converter too. Got lucky to get it gutted. I laughed like crazy when I saw the non-fouler trick. Gotta do what cha' gotta do.

Plus install $$ too, I don't think so! I did it myself. I was lucky the guy/gals at advanced know me WELL so they gave me the warranty replacement even knowing it was a year or two past..they did the same with the batt a few weeks back too..But if they didn't, I'd do the fouler trick for sure...Heck yeah man, you gotta, especially when you gotta make life decisions at the pump

@jham0077 I am not planning to put a cat on it, but if anybody does need a cat I can get one from on of my suppliers for about $225. Patt, pictures are on the way...

Ok, here is the first picture. I am starting this project with a coolant flush, I will flush once after I do the plenum repairs as well. So from the picture below you can see what is supposed to be green antifreeze that has been in an engine for 6 1/2 years... It was so clogged that I can't drain it out of the radiator drain ****. I am going to remove the lower radiator hose since I have to replace it anyway.

I will post more pictures as I get more work done.
