Did the cat delete ony 04 qc hemi last week. Did the spark plug fouler trick and it worked. No check engine light. I just put in pipe where the cats were and 1 flowmaster after the y pipe. Sou.ds awesome! Ive really gotten alot of compliments on my exhaust

I am going to post a note for people who have a 1996 Ram 5.9L. Parts diagrams will show that you have two upstream O2 sensors and one downstream. However, some very early models (like this one) have one upstream and one downstream. There is one oxygen sensor for the upstream and in the part description on RockAuto it will just say "Upstream", i.e. it won't say something like right upstream etc. Just also note that neither NTK nor Denso make this particular O2 sensor that I am aware of. I got the UltraPower unit, have yet to try it out.

They are complete. Everything is there, just need to bolt 'em on.

As they are 'stock replacements'..... The only power improvement you will see is from simply having valves that seal good. They don't flow any better than the stock heads, biggest advantage is they are better castings, and far less prone to cracking. I don't recall if they used one-piece valves in those or not.....

If you are looking for some more power, they also offer larger valve versions of those heads. They breath better, but, with the larger valves, you sacrifice some low RPM velocity there..... so, some loss of bottom end torque. Whether you would notice it or not becomes the question.

Ok. Bottom end torque, well, I don't know how much effect that would have. Perhaps slight supercharging at low rpms would help? Oh and thanks for the link HY. Will be a great help to have the FSM.

Hey redneck. can you tell me how you gutted your cat. I whanna do the same. Seems like my flowmaster has actually gotten a little quiter. Could this be because the cat is clogged? I'm hoping it actually makes my 50 series a bit louder otherwise I make put a 40 or 46 series in.

My neck is tan, not red... I didn't gut my cat, just going to remove it. Your muffler could be quieter, although I do not know how much.

think he was refering to me. i used to have a gutted cat, until i installed a high flow direct fit magnaflow.

i used a piece of aluminum pipe, and jammed the sucker in the for a bit, then started it and revved it a bit, then repeated the process until no more honey comb came out.

should i be telling someone how to do this on the interwebs??

also, dont forget to remove the o2 sensors out of the pipe.

Can muffler get partially clogged up and restrict air flow if cat and plenum are/were bad? I just replaced cat after plenum repair and wondering if old exhaust should be replaced if not rusted out?

If the plenum is blown it can/will lead to cat failure. The several different types of metals that make up the internals of the cat and 'can' travel back to the muffler. But unless they're big chunks and the type of muffler you have, you most likely DON'T have anything to worry about. It's kinda just the oppsite, it's the cat that gets clogged and when that happens there's no flow I was worried about the same thing a while back when my cat went...
