I believe in Seafoam. My wife's truck is getting over a plenum job, which the plugs probably should have been replaced(eventually will get replaced). It trembled at idle. Sixteen ounces of Seafoam through the brake vacuum, a yard full of smoke, and a "drive it like you stole it" test drive until it quit smoking, and the tremble is gone.
The guy that rebuilt her transmission said the torque converters in these transmissions(727 w/OD) are the weak point. He told me they can have almost unnoticeable symptoms for 6 months or better before finally shooting craps. I didn't ask the symptoms, kinda pointless after the fact. Isn't the PS cap vented?

Me neither. I'm a Chevy guy. Although I own two Dodges. I played mechanic for a few years back in 96-99. We didn't see alot of Dodges. I worked on 10 Chevys to about 7 Fords to about 3 Dodges. And this generation of truck was still under warranty so local shops was the last place to find one. I know with both wheels on the ground and turning the steering wheel(engine off) that anything is likely to bubble fluid out. And I have seen bad racks do it when running.

Wow a full bottle, maybe that's why I didn't have any smoke! I thought I was only supposed to use a 1/3. And only speaking for my rig, no overflow for the PS pump. And as per the SM "there is some noise in all PS systems. One of the most common is a hissing sound evident at a standstill parking. Or when the steering wheel is at the end of it's travel". "The noise is present in all valves that have high velocity fluid passing through an orifice. There is no relationship between this noise and steering performance". "Check the oil level; If leakage persists with the correct level and cap tight, replace the cap". With that said caps run about $8 bucks so for peace of mind do what ya gotta do right...I'm sure mine leaked do the pressure build up from turning the wheel so many times with the motor off. When I do it when I'm doing the breaks I will only turn it one time so not enough pressure can build up to cause leakage...But the hiss or air sucking sound is new and I listed possible causes relating to the PS system. I sprayed carb cleaned at/around the IM with no change in rpm's...My CEL is totally random..I had come on like to days in a row (I reset the PCM to turn it off) or it went of after replacing the #8 plug. Now it hasn't come on for a while now. Still have the problems tho..and I'm thinking that 5mph and 40mph are seperate issues too..also that torque converter shudder treatment is exactly what that is for or I should say why it's what it's for..the lock up issue..I've added lucas already with no change..but like I said I relly need a filter/fluid change and the lines purged...

DO what the directions say, like today do another 1/3, and in a couple days do the rest of the can. Also use Techron plus in the gas tank.

That's what I did! The way it sounded/looked I thought he used the whole bottle at once..And techron is the only brand I've ever put in the tank..Are you mad at me because I like both teams Or because I like the Mets more? It was grilled into my brain growing up "always read the directions 1st!!"

Dad used to like Mystry Oil.. but I've never really seen anything from it.. running a low ratio fuel to mix of Lucas seems to give it a little more romp.. and Sea Foam in the gas used to always help my wife's car..

Dad used to say they used to clean carbon by pouring tranny fluid in to the Carb (remember the old school style intakes not like this kegger) used to flush out carbon..

LOL..

Doesn't matter what team your on, as long as your a team player, unless of course your playing for the Mets.

Yeah.....It got the whole bottle at one feeding. I didn't know instructions for Seafoaming were on here anywhere, or maybe the can for that matter. I went by an oldtimer's advice from long ago. I let it idle until the smoke thinned and then drove the rest out of it. I've also heard transmission fluid done the same way, or poured through the carb, might free a stuck ring(for the 'been sitting awhile' motors). If there are "side effects" to a whole bottle at once then DO NOT follow my example. But as of yet, I see no problems.
