No the PCV valve is not on that side. you are referring to the little white valve on the valve cover?
What is the expensive stuff that you suspect?

It could be white, but more often the plain old elbow is the white part and the valve is grey or black and on the opposite bank. Whatever the color, the PCV valve is the one that is plumbed to the intake manifold, while the elbow is plumbed to the air hat. I suppose someone could get entirely too stoned (or just be stupid) and swap the valve for the elbow without changing the plumbing to match... that'd give you oil spots on the plugs and oil consumption just like a failed valve would. If you're not sure, the valve is the one that rattles when you shake it.

Things I've seen that cause oil spots on plugs: cracked head, leaky intake valve with a leaky valve guide above it, and/or a blown head gasket.

Just to clarify, '96 has the PCV on passenger side. They switched in 2000?

90-95 is below minimum spec. Retest, and verify your results. If it comes out the same, it's rebuild time.

Thanks. It appears that when I use the extension on the test kit, it reduces my PSI.. so I removed the extension and received the following readings... based on the information in the book, these readings are all within the min / max and within the 15% threshold that it gives.

#1 130
#2 130
#3 140
#4 145
#5 140
#6 140
#7 145
#8 135

I also took a couple photos to show the plugs, can you tell which is Cyl 3? lol... also took a couple shots of down inside the throttle assy...

I talked to my local mechanic today and he said that my problem is most likley my computer due to the random missfires along with the mass codes of the injectors showing open circuit... (new codes that poped up) he said that its probable that the quad drivers may be failing in the computer...

He is ordering one for my truck and will allow me to run it in my truck a while to see if it fixes the problem. If it does, I can pay for it. If not, then I wont.

Well..... Its not the computer..... *cry*!!

Whats next to try HeyYou? Im diein here....

Could a plugged up exhaust system cause a missfire in a single cyl? and cause surges at around 45 mph etc?

P0303 / P0300

Plugs = not the problem
wires = not the problem
compression = not the problem
computer = not the problem
O2 sensors = not the problem
cap = not the problem
rotor = not the problem
