transfer case compatibility
Post #6 indicates tailshaft length of the transmission may be a problem
Tail shaft length of the transmission will only matter when your trying to use the transmission and transfer case then it would make the driveshaft too short but if your using only the transfer case and the original driveshaft from the 5spd in the 5spd again there should be no issues and it is probably the same transfer case or else it probably has the 208 transfer case only way to know is get under it and find the tag and the numbers and see if they match

Not sure what you're talking about?
How does tailshaft length of the transmission which lives within the t-case planetary affect driveshaft length at all? Or are you saying t-case adapters aka tailshaft housings are different lengths?

Yes??

As long as the transfer case length is the same which it should be and has the same yolk setup on the back of the transfer case will fit the bolt pattern is the same transmission to transfer case 4spd and 5spd have the same 6 stud pattern it is the same the transfer case should be the same unless someone has changed it with a 208 out of an older truck the 4spd was most common to have a 208 or 205 out of a 1st gen ram behind it as that's what the 4spd is most likely out of but they were a bolt on style flange as long as the transfer case is a slip yolk style like what should be on your 5spd 2nd gen ram it will work if this does not make sense to you please provide pictures of the back of both transfer cases and one of us can tell you if it will work or not
