When I worked at the shop in town here, when we did exhaust work, we ALWAYS saved the dead cats we cut out, as there were a variety of places that would pay good money for them. The cheapest we got was 35 bucks, we got north of 100 for some of the larger GM units...... Check with exhaust shops near you, and see who they sell their dead cats to. Them folks will buy from anyone.

There's a down side to that too. I know a few months ago when metal prices were so high, cats. were a favorite target of thieves. They were cutting them off at night in peoples driveways, school bus yards, etc.

That was in Houston. I moved.

I think they are just getting the metals out of them.

I just got done cutting mine off, and it was a pain in the ***. Kudos to anyone who can cut off someone else's cat without anyone noticing.

Provided it wasn't a total hack job, I wouldn't care if they stole mine.

Yea. No sawzall here

Did have a die grinder with cutoff wheel. It worked well except the front part of the cat, by the Y pipe, which is right next to the transmission, very little room to work..
