Default Turn-signal lights stay on when activated...

My '96 ram has an odd turn-signal problem. When I activate the signal on either side, the lamp on the dash stays lit instead of blinking, and the exterior light stays lit instead of blinking too.

I haven't had a chance to check the fuses yet, but I'm assuming if the fuse was blown the lights wouldn't come on at all.

Any ideas?

Check all the bulbs for loose/dirty connections.... Probably wouldn't hurt to check the ground connections too.

What those two said. Your flasher isn't flashing, it's just turning on.

when you say 'replace the flasher' are you referring to the stalk on the steering column, or is there another relay or component you're referring to?

Do you have an owners manual? Haynes or other shop manual?

You can download service manual here on DF in the FAQ/DIY section. It will show you what it is. Local auto parts store can probably show you when you go there to buy it.

Take off the disease cover with the door open. It looks like a relay but it is light blue instead of grey or black.

No, the older models have 2 round silver flashers. One for turn signals and one for emergency flash.

Yes, I just checked the Haynes manual. Thanks for pointing me in the direction I should have known to take in the first place :-/
