looking for anyone else who may have this situation , my 97 ram 1500 4x4 , the intermediate axle shaft was pressed into the pinion gears crosspin. and took out 2 alignment bushings in 7 months ... any takers on knowledge ?? please help ..
Did you post the same information in the 2nd gen ram section? Anytime you have a tech question. I would recommend to post in the section that will give you a answer sooner. first of all, does the vehicle have the factory suspension? Has it been raised? When you where writing about the alignment bushings, are writing about the bolts you need to rotate to set the caster or the ball joints to set the camber readings. Also on the intermediate shaft, which one are you writing about? Are you writing about the sleeve that locks the right axle shaft and allows the front end to go into 4x4?
2nd generation ? would not think of making such a difference ,, tho i thank you for the input . and yes i do believe it has the factory suspension ,,the bushing i was speaking of is the one between the 2 axles at the cad opening ( nylon ) ~~~~~~~~~~ note : i do believe i have the issue resolved by some stroke of luck on my part ,, the short shaft with the yoke on it that runs through the bearing assembly and the axle not threads on the end of,,,,,, appears to be different length from spindle mating surface to u-joint hole .. therefore pushing the 2 axles too far inward to the pumpkin gear carrier.......
not sure how the newer versions are built , tho my 97 with the dana44 front axle has the center axle disconnect ( c a d ) on the passenger side of the differential bubble ( for lack of a better word ) behind the passenger front wheel ,, and within these dana 44 rears this side of the drive axle has a 2 piece axle shaft ,,, an intermediate and an outer that has the yoke built on ~~ Then the u joint fits this yoke and the outer short yoke which fits through the wheel bearing assembly.. now ~~ where the intermediate shaft and the first outer shaft meet there is a bushing which holed these 2 axles in a line so as to let the locking collar slide un affectedly from 2 wheel to 4 wheel ,, this is where the bushing i fore mentioned wore out twice within 300 miles .. leading me to inspect the situation in depth till finding the fore mentioned short ( stub ) shaft being differently built ,,,,
I just guessing at this point, But is this a two piece driveshaft with a center bearing? Can you send pictures. That would help.

2 piece front drive axle shafts , yes has a center bearing that the intermediate shaft rides in located to the left of the c a d window opening. the bushing that wore out twice is located on the intermediate shaft and in the outer shaft .
