transmission problem, I think?
so I have a 1994 dodge 1500 5.2l and I just cleaned the throttle body and rerouted the spark plug wires the correct way. than I started it and let it run for a little bit and when I went to drive it I put it in reverse the rpm's dropped to about 400-500 and seems like its going to die then jumps back up 900-1000 and it did this in every gear except for neutral. I don't know if this is normal or what any help would be appreciated thanks. Posted from Dodgeforum.com App for Android

Ok, it's gotta be something with the engine unless the torque converter lockup clutch is not disengaging, or the torque converter is failing. So I am gonna assume it is with the engine. But first, can you check for OBD2 codes? Note: The OBD2 light won't turn on for most transmission codes, and the keyswitch trick only works for O/D related codes, so you will have to use a ScanTool of sorts.

If it turned, it is jacked. Replace it. It is a stepping motor and will neot be able to rest the steps after it has been turned.
Yes, it is OBDI. 1996 is when OBDII was required.
