Advice Needed! Critical Phase!
Phase One of Harness thindown complete:
Each engine harness wire is identified, traced and labeled. I have gone through the PCM pinouts schematic and drafted a plan of attack of the thindown. What makes the cut... so to speak. I have a list of what makes it and what doesnt, but before I get to chopping away at wires, I wanted to get your opinions on my choices. Is there anything I have chosen to remove that I will regret later, or something I chose to keep that is un-needed? They are in order as listed on the PCM pinout Diagram. (Please note that I will not be using an automatic trans or A/C)
Things to keep:
MAP Sensor Signal
Engine Coolant Temp Sensor Signal
Fused B+
Sensor Ground(s)
5v Output (MAP + TPS)
8v Supply (CAM.ps CR.ps VSS)
Fused Ign SW output (Start and Run)
Injector drivers (1-8)
Ignition Coil Driver
Generator Field Control
Intake Air Temp Sensor Signal
Throttle Position Sensor
Crank Pos. Sensor signal
SCI Transmit (Data Link)
Park/Neutral Pos Switch sense
Malfunction Ind. Lamp
EGR Solenoid Control
Right Heated O2 Sensor
Tach Signal
Cam pos sensor signal
SCI Recieve (Data Link)
Auto Shutdown (ASD) Signal
Evap/Purge Solenoid Sig Control
Service Reminder Ind Lamp?
ASD Relay Output
Idle Air Control Motor Drivers.
Things to Delete:
Trans OD Switch Output
Left Heated O2 Sensor - Not an option on my truck
A/C Request Signal
Stop Lamp Switch Output
Trans Temp Lamp Driver
Vehicle Speed Control-Vac Sig
A/C Comp Clutch Relay Control
Trans Control Module
Trans Temp Sensor
Vehicle Speed Sensor Sig
VSC Switch - Set
VSC Switch - Output (On)
VSC Switch - Resume/Accel
VSC Vent Signal
Up Shift Lamp Driver - Needed?
TCC Solenoid Control (Torque Converter)
Overdrive Solenoid Control

A couple of the things you want to delete are going to set codes. VSS, being right up there on the list.
I would be tempted to leave the cruise control stuff as well, as installing it would be a dead simple operation......
Don't worry about the shift lamp driver. That is more for fuel economy than anything else.

As for the shift lamp: I thought so, but I wasnt sure if it would freak the PCM out, not seeing a "dummy lamp"

I thought about it, but the complete engine, harness and PCM came from the same vehicle and it was cheap. $150 bought it all. Also, I will eventually stumble on a manual trans PCM. That will eliminate many of the codes. Besides, I will put the CEL in the glove box, so I wont have to look at it anyway unless I want to run codes.
