Are you checking when in neutral and at normal operating temperature? If it is the stock transmission it may be getting close to rebuild time.

yes it is in nuetral and on level ground. and i let it warm up for awhile. could it be the pump inside the transmission? and do you know about how much a rebuild kill would cost a person?

Need to run it thru the gears, to make sure everything is filled up. If it's slipping, a band adjustment might get you a bit more time, but, better start considering a rebuild. Generally run around 1000-1500 bucks.

The pump is the least likely problem. And rebuild? The price varies so much, expect to pay anywhere between $1200 to $2500.

The price is partially a funcion of where you are located. And partially based on what the market will bear. Want to do it right - and never have to worry about tranny issues? Get a mega viper from PATC. But that is not cheap.

You don't get a Mega Viper rebuild, the PATC Mega Viper is a full fledged replacement transmission.

Not cheap, about $3600 but can take whatever you can throw at it.
Only an option if you plan on keeping your truck for another 5 years.
