About to buy a SCT Tuner and have some questions
I'm also considering the SCT 9550 tuner from Hemifever. My biggest issue is that I really just want to get the most out of running regular gas, since this truck already has issues passing gas stations. When running regular fuel, Hemifever stated that not much difference would be noticed. The real performance with the SCT tuner seems to come with higher octane fuel.
I'd suspect that if your PCM has the death flash and you've recently fixed the plenum issue, you will notice some differences with the tuner on regular fuel.

I ran the 87 octane program first and took an eighty mile trip and noticed a big difference especially on the highway. Cruising and passing took a lot less effort which means a lighter foot on the "go" pedal.
91 octane wasnt a "slap yo momma in the face" difference but it definitely brought the engine to life. For 265, you wont find a better upgrade for your truck.

I've got a 10% off coupon code going on right now using the code Christ at checkout and it's good through Christmas Day. I can do something on the 87 octane tune to snag a hair more mpg but remind me to do so.
ill be also purchashing the tuner friday since its payday and you arn't able to adjust the speedo are ya? i feel like i wont feel the full performance, until i get that fixed. since it says i'm going 60mph, but realistically i'm going 65mph because of the 35s
Superchips might have more options but Hemifever has more power.. As for the speedometer correction I could care less about that. If my truck was up and running I would take advantage of the 10% off.. I just have to spend that money on trying to get it together to run.
Damn, I wish I would have known that. I just ordered on Friday.........
I just installed mine yesterday and I noticed a huge improvement over stock. I ran the 87 program until I needed to fuel up then I ran the 91 program and to my surprise I spun the tires. Kinda crazy considering they are 33's.
If I can manage to keep my foot out of it Im sure my gas mileage would increase but its really hard not to want to go fast now lol.
Im also running the 180 tstat and have been since I did the plenum fix. No adverse affects, just lower temp which is good for towing as it likes to get a bit warm, and coming up the cajon pass here in socal. Still need to change my timing chain and install the autolite plugs I just bought, should be much better after that.
Get it, you wont regret it.
EDIT: My heater works like a champ still with the 180 tstat. Gets ridiculously hot which is good lol.
I was a little worried about what it would take to install the tune, but all you do is plug the tuner into your OBD port and follow the instructions. Took less than 5 minutes. I changed from 87 to 91 octane at the gas station as I was filling up with 91. EASY!!

what kind of fuel should we be using in our trucks with the tunes. since gas is expensive i like getting the 87. never really tried the 89 or 91, is there that great of a difference? which is the best tune to use? are we able to swap tunes back and forth on the same truck between different tunes unlimited?
