Probably have to change the governor pressure stuff then. Some of it changed between 99 and 00. Should be able to transfer it from the old to new trans. There is a mounting bracket you need as well. (for the electronics.)

Hello guys, I have been trying to identify mine...
The code is PK511184332443 0164 and the housing is 238-2 C. I have not been able to identify it.
From the outside is identical to a 47RE, I do not know from which car it belonged to since I picked it from a shop who didn't know.

It has a 8 PIN connector so I know it is an RE.

My PAN gasket looks like this:

Thanks.

Default Does the 064-10 swap with 067-6

I went to a junkyard and picked up the transmission from an identical truck, which is a 99 dodge ram, 2500 2wd. After I swapped the transmissions, I noticed a slight difference with the housing. However, I turn the key and get nothing engine will not start, so I’m wondering if it is a problem with compatibility

Shouldn't be a problem. Is the neutral safety switch plugged in? Next question would be, does it work?

Default 46re or 47re 1996 dodge 2500 5.9l gas r.w.d automatic tranny

[I have 1996 dodge 2500 5.9l gas r.w.d truck automatic tranny. Which tranny do I have or can I find out by vin. Do I have 46re or 47re

QUOTE=Hawkeyefan;2932460]OK first off this is going to take me a little while to get all this on here. I'm going to put every thing I have about matching up transmission numbers. I got some of this info from a family member who works at the transmission plant in Kokomo Indiana, and the rest from different places. A few things to remember when looking for another trans. In mid 99 they changed some of the electronics.96 and up A500, A518, and A618 use the same governor pressure solenoid. 96-early 99 A500,A518,and A618 use the round metal pressure sensor or transducer as some call it. Late 99s and up use the black plastic 1.
96 -early 99s use the same OD & lockup solenoid. late 99s and up use the same OD & lockup solenoid. 78 -98 uses a round black neutral safety switch with 3 pins. For 99s they changed the neutral switch to a rectangular white plug with 3 pins. In 2000 they changed to a 5 pin big plastic switch
If you look above the pan on the drivers side there will be some numbers stamped on the case most of the time they start with PK. The next 8 numbers are the part# for that transmission. Also if there's fins above the rear servo it's a A618. Diesel and V10s have a moon shaped cut out at the bottom of the bell housing for a bigger torque converter.
